Different Types Of Sexual Orientation
Usually when a person enters his or her teenage years, they begin to get sexually aware. They start experiencing sexual feelings due to the physical and hormonal changes in the body. The changes affect not just the body, but also the mind and bring about sexual feelings, which can be quite intense. It is during these years, that teenagers begin pondering about their sexual orientation. |
They try to understand who they are and who they feel sexually attracted to. Understanding these feelings is important for any teenager as it clear their sexual orientation, which is nothing but the gender a person is attracted to. There are different types of sexual orientation and they are as follows:
Heterosexual: When a person has a heterosexual orientation, it means that he or she is sexually attracted to a person from the opposite gender. In other words, a man is attracted to a woman, while a woman is attracted to a man. Another term for a heterosexual is straight.
Homosexual: A homosexual person is one who is attracted physically to another person who is of the same gender as he or she is. In other words, a woman is attracted to another woman, and a man is attracted to another man. If a woman is attracted to another woman, she is known as lesbian, while a man who is attracted to another man is called gay.
Bisexual: A bisexual person is one who is attracted to members of both genders. So, a man can be attracted to another man or a woman; and the same is also true for a woman who is bisexual.
